4Train Mailing List

February 9th- Latest News
4TRAIN Mailing List Update
Due to issues my website hosting company is having with mailing lists I have created a new one using Google Groups. I am still in the process of getting familiar with their service.

If you were a member of the original list you need to sign up for this one. You can click here, 4TRAIN, to join through the web. I believe this will require you to create a free Google account. If you do not want to do that you can e-mail me directly with your e-mail address and I'll add your address to the mailing list.

My goal with this list is to get something going in this area similar to the AList but related to things going on in Western PA and the surrounding area. Please use this list to organize training events, find teammates, ask questions, promote races, etc...

Once a member of the list you can post messages by either sending an e-mail to 4train@googlegroups.com or to me directly at mike at 4theadventure.com. The list is moderated so I can keep spam and other junk from being sent out.

January 6th
Happy New Year and a belated Merry Christmas to everyone!
2007 is looking to shape up to be a great year for racing in Western PA! Both American Adventure Sports and Grass Roots Racing are hosting 6 races each this year. That's 12 events that are all within an easy driving distance for those in Western PA! You can't ask for much more than that. GET OUT AND SUPPORT THESE GUYS! A great combination of short sprint races and longer expedition style races that are sure to be a challenge.

Don't forget about GOALS Adventure Racing in Eastern PA and Ambush Adventure Sports out of Ohio. Plus Odyssey Adventure Racing in Virginia for even more events.

I've been saying for months now that I have been planning on setting up another nav course over at Moraine for some training. Progress on that has been slow. I do have what I need for the markers. Now it's just a matter of getting over there and marking the points.

Some of us may be meeting up next weekend for some nav or bike training. Possibly some kayaking as well. Also, if anyone is up for a kayak trip down the Neshannock while the water levels are up let me know. It's a nice paddle of either 5 or 10 miles depending on how far you want to go. I'll go no matter the weather, rain, snow, hot or cold.

July 15th
Well, I haven't had the time lately to get out and set up another course for some nav training. Too much going on at home. I am still planning on setting this up but it may be sometime later in August.

If you're reading this website, be sure to sign up for the 4Train mailing list and to use it. This list is for anyone to use to organize training events, find teammates, etc...

NEW Adventure Racing Magazine!!!
Be sure to check out Navigation Games magazine. Published by Rick Eastman, it is shaping up to be a really good magazine covering AR, orienteering, geocaching and other navigation related activities. The first four issues are available as PDF files at their website. Check them out!
